MAKHTAL: Chief Minister and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy warned the rise of BJP in Telangana would lead to communal tension and a significant drop in investors' confidence.
Addressing an election rally for Congress candidate Dr Vamshi Chand Reddy in Makhtal on Friday, Revanth Reddy drew parallels between Telangana's potential fate and that of Uttar Pradesh, where he claimed that BJP's rule had led to increased communal incidents and reduced investment.
"If the BJP succeeds in Telangana by mistake, the state will be ruined," he said, citing that BJP's governance in Uttar Pradesh had discouraged investors due to fear and instability. He noted that while investment in places like Gurgaon had continued to thrive, Uttar Pradesh had faced considerable challenges.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP would change the Constitution if it returned to power for a third term and might scrap reservation policies. He called on voters to support Congress to protect the Constitution and ensure the continuation of reservation policies.
He highlighted the development and peace achieved under former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who completed projects like Hyderabad's international airport, the Outer Ring Road, and the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. He cautioned that voting for the BJP could lead to Telangana "going back 100 years" in terms of development and stability.
Revanth Reddy was particularly critical of DK Aruna, the BJP candidate from the Mahbubnagar constituency who had previously served as a minister under the Congress. He claimed that despite her long political career, she had failed to bring development to Mahbubnagar. He said her shift to the BJP five years ago had yielded no tangible benefits for the district. He further accused her of collaborating with the BJP to remove him from his position as Chief Minister.
He mentioned that if Congress won the Mahbubnagar seat, the Mudiraj community would be moved from BC-D to BC-A. Further, national project status would be granted to the Palamuru Rangareddy project, a Krishna-Vikarabad railway line would be established, a degree college and a court would be set up, and roads in 32 villages would be constructed. He added that pending irrigation projects such as Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Koilsagar, and the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal lift irrigation project would also be completed.
Revanth Reddy urged voters to support Congress and ensure a decisive victory for Dr Vamshi Chand Reddy.
